OFFICIALLY WE CAN SAY IT ~ Fun & Fitness will be on board Celebrity's Millennium in August when it departs Philipsburg, St. Maarten, on the Dutch side of this sunny Caribbean island near Puerto Rico. The other side of the island is French and named St. Martin. It's very easy traveling side to side. The whole island is home to 120 nationalities speaking at least 80 languages and governed by two different countries: the Netherlands and France. In America the CDC still has not opened up any American port city to cruising, but the Netherlands and France are open and welcome Americans to shop, tour, browse and enjoy local cafes and bars on their shared island. Inexpensive buses, taxis and tour groups are abundant. Or, Celebrity can organize private tours for a small group too. Only Balconies may be booked on this cruise to assure guests have constant exposure to fresh air and plenty of room for social distancing. In fact, the ship will sail less than half full. The Millennium normally carries 2218 passengers, but this summer on its 34 Caribbean sailings there will be just over 900 cruisers on each sailing. Guests over age 18 must be vaccinated for COVID to cruise and must provide at the time of boarding a negative PCR test just taken within 5 days of departure. Extra PCR tests (nasal swabs) will be conducted at the pier free of charge on all adults and children before boarding ship. It's a 15 minute procedure. If any passenger is found to have COVID Celebrity will take the necessary precautions on site to assist that guest with medical attention, logistics, transportation, reporting, communication and staffing so s/he may return home safely. Travel insurance is required for each passenger and is available through Celebrity. Guests must also purchase a $30 insurance policy to be on St. Maarten's Island. If guests go only from St. Maarten's airport to the ship no insurance policy is required. And no other paperwork or insurance is required to visit any of the other three islands, outside of what is required by Celebrity. Guests can "spice up" their lives this summer by self driving miniature cars called "scoots" around St. Maarten and by buying colorful, exotic spices in Tortola to take home to America. Spices easily clear Customs and make excellent gifts. Pre and post cruise tours are popular in Philipsburg where churches are filled with history. The island's French side is Catholic, the Dutch side is Pentecostal. The two sides together have a population of 80,000. It's called the Caribbean's 'Friendly Island' because everybody there gets along and has been doing so since 1648 by agreement between their mutual governments. Let's cruise from St. Maarten/St. Martin and ask them how they do it!

NO MORE CABIN KEY CARDS ~ Guests must wear wrist bands at all times whether on or off the ship. Guests are not required to always wear masks, but they must wear wrist bands. Bands allow guests to embark and disembark the ship, make gift, spa and tour purchases on the ship and they open cabin doors. The bands also allow the ship's medical team to identify within minutes any one with whom a guest was in personal range up to when that guest first reports not feeling well. There will be no more print outs listing the ship's activities. Computer screens on all decks can be tapped 24/7 to locate all the ship's activities and locations. Plus the bands allow a missing companion to be located any where on the ship at any time. The new 'Tracelet' is a registered trademark of Royal Caribbean, sister cruise lines to Celebrity.

Balconies have sliding glass doors that open to outdoor seating. All Balconies have 1 or 2 beds. Chose bed set up when booking. All Balconies are mid-ship. Balconies can sleep 1 or 2 guests only.

St.Maarten's Simpson Bay is Caribbean's largest salt water lagoon.
