CRUISE THE PANAMA CANAL IN 2020! The Panama Canal connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and has been operating since 1914. Only recently was a third, bigger lock completed and opened to allow larger ships with more cargo to pass through. Ships enter one lock and are then lifted up by rising water to move out onto a higher lock full of water. That higher lock is then drained of its water lowering the ship down onto another lock at sea level. From this lowest lock the ship is released back out onto another ocean. Each ship is literally lifted up out of one ocean and lowered down into the other by raising water up and down. History of the Panama Canal is captivating to engineers. In fact, the majority of passengers on each ship going through the Canal are engineers as reported by cruise industry magazines. Engineers are intrigued knowing in 1914 at least 1000 vessels passed through the Canal; in 2008 there were 15,000 and in 2012 more than 815,000 vessels passed through. It takes 12 hours for each ship to move through the Panama Canal. All ships are squeezed into narrow dirt alleys so as not to tip up or down or roll over onto their sides. Passengers often reach out from their ships trying to touch the canal's dirt walls when passing through. It is that tight a fit. Today there's a new problem facing Panama which oversees its own locks. Panama may start losing business as Earth continues to warm up and ice melts in the Arctic Ocean making the Northwest Passage more attractive for commercial shipping. As Panama keeps raising tolls to use its Canal, so do mega shipping conglomerates continue looking for cheaper, faster ways to go from one ocean to the other. A Northwest Passage route would cut off 5800 miles between Asia and Europe making the Panama Cana less useful. In Guatemala be prepared to drink the best coffee in the world. Why not bring some home? You can. In Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico enjoy the best time of year when summer will still be in full swing, but not so hot. As for Costa Rica many cruisers spend time on shore looking for real estate because they'd like to find a winter home in this colorful country. You can do this too after taking amazing tours in the local rain forests. Hear Howler monkeys and photograph exotic birds. Costa Rica is called South America's Switzerland because of its gorgeous, steep, green mountains. Pre and post cruise rates for air and hotels will be announced later in 2019. Every day on the cruise enjoy water aerobics taught by certified instructors who travel with you. Daily water aerobics are complemented with more exercises like yoga, deck walking and Tai chi. Return home looking like a million without spending it. Deposit is $450 per person or $900 per stateroom. You may cancel any time up to July 7, 2020 with no penalty. This cruise has not been available for quite some time, making it all that much more in demand today. Best prices, stateroom locations and benefits fill up fast. Call today!
